– The enchanting minutes continue for the 97-44 Sox, that pulled off their greatest return of the season versus the group that leads the National League East.
On three previous events, Boston rallied from a five-run shortage. Yet this was the first time they barked back from 6 to win.
Despite that wild return in the 8th, the Sox still almost shed. Freddie Freeman placed the momentum back on Atlanta’s side when he walloped a two-out solo shot in the 8th against Brandon Workman to put the Braves back up, 8-7. Many thanks to previous Brave as well as Stone Mountain, Ga., native Phillips, that couldn’t include his smile as he trotted around the bases, Boston had the ultimate victory.
Craig Kimbrel, an additional former Brave, began for his 38th save in all-time low of the ninth.
With the rewarding triumph, the Red Sox decreased their magic number for securing a postseason berth to four games. For the Red Sox, that angry rally in the 8th started with songs by Christian Vazquez, Tzu-Wei Lin and also Jackie Bradley Jr. to pack the bases with no one out. Andrew Benintendi stepped up with an RBI single to left against lefty Jonny Venters to put the Sox right back in it at 7-4.
